United Cooperative Services has an open position for Energy Solutions Specialist in our Granbury Corporate Strategy and Member Services Department.

This position performs and/or assists cooperative members with behind-the-meter services, including, but are not limited to, energy audits, distributed energy resources, , electric car chargers, demand side management programs, United Community Solar and other rate options, and other services, such as non-standard metering requests and rebate qualification/processing. Performs and reviews energy audits at member residential and C&I facilities as well as identifies, estimates, analyzes, and recommends or reviews appropriate combinations of energy innovation solutions and rate options for United members. This position demonstrates expert knowledge of energy efficiency, distributed energy resources and innovative solutions, and displays the ability to solve complex member energy usage issues in an expeditious, professional manner.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
•Coordinates all activities associated with behind-the-meter services.
•Performs energy audits of member facilities.
•Gathers field data and makes calculations for energy audits and distributed energy resources.
•Creates EA reports by running energy software modeling, writing equipment specifications, and analyzing utility rates and bills.
•Expeditiously distributes energy audit findings and other evaluations to members.
•Answers members’ inquiries about distributed energy resources, including net metering, billing, processes, and policies.
•Assists and advises members and installers on the installation of distributed energy resources including types, sizing, location, connection, and operation.
•Coordinates and supervises the approval and verification process of all interconnecting distributed energy resources.
•Verifies the proper interconnection of all distributed energy resources according to United’s policies.
•Coordinates necessary upgrades on United’s infrastructure due to the installation of distributed energy Assists members through identifying and rectifying residential equipment failure, outlined in Policy 4110. Calculate and recommend account credits based on historical usage.
•Assists in the preparation of measuring and monitoring methods for the energy innovation solutions.
•Assists members with power quality questions and/or concerns. Confirm delivery of acceptable voltage at metering connections.
•Maintain customer focus with an understanding of customer satisfaction.
•Respond to member inquiries/issues and provide timely answers/resolution.
•Effectively communicate (both written and verbal) with members and office personnel.
•Must routinely make recommendations to members on ways to resolve complex energy usage issues. This often must be accomplished independently and done so with a high degree of discretion and judgment.
•Promotes UCS energy innovation solutions through numerous communications vehicles—in addition to energy audits—including speaking engagements, business expos and conventions, civic clubs and community groups.
•Responsible for maintaining energy innovation material inventories, including LEDs, water heater blankets, etc., and for ensuring members routinely receive the benefit of these materials.
•Adhere to encourage United safety policies and procedures and offer recommendations to your supervisor to enhance the cooperative’s safety culture.
•Responsible for processing United’s Energy Innovation Rebates and EnergySmarts Grants.
•Assists Key Accounts with energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, and conservation measures.
•Assists with educational training for United staff regarding energy efficiency, conservation, distributed energy resources, interconnections, emerging technologies and other behind-the-meter services offered by United.
•Coordinating and processing non-standard metering requests from members.

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
•Serves as a contact with residential and key account members for energy innovation inquiries.
•Serves as a contact for all distributed energy resources contractors and installers.
•Represents United in the local community by being involved in Chamber of Commerce, civic organizations and other local clubs.
V. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Job Knowledge, Training and Experience: Requires a high school diploma or GED, HVAC, construction and/or electrical experience and/or terminology a plus. General construction experience preferred but not required.
Equipment Operated: Must have a current Texas driver’s license without violations that would prohibit insurability. Proficiently operate office equipment and computers with computer software in word processing and spreadsheets. Must be able to use an Amp meter.
Abilities and Skills: Must be able to effectively present information, orally and written, and respond to questions from customers regarding energy consumption, usage trends and distributed energy resources. Must be proficient with job-related software and computer applications to consistently perform duties or requirements of the position. Must be able to give, receive and analyze information, prepare written materials, and articulate goals and action plans. Must be able to deal with a variety of people in varying situations with tact and diplomacy.
Physical Effort: Must be able to perform all activities listed in the job description with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to enter and navigate tight crawl and attic spaces.
Working Conditions: Requires working both inside and outside the office with some irregular working hours. Some travel is required inside and outside the cooperative service area.
