Position Highlights
BC Hydro's portfolio of Electricity Purchase Agreements (EPAs) with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) currently
includes approximately 130 contracts.
IPP Portfolio Management professionals support senior team members in administrating and managing the IPP portfolio
and have an important role in the day to day administration of EPAs, primarily for IPP projects which are in operation. This
opportunity is for a solution-oriented team member with strong quantitative skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced
environment.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Commercial Operations, Regulatory and Compliance group within the IPP
Portfolio Management team.
- Verifying invoices related to EPAs submitted by IPPs, including identifying and seeking resolution on issues related to
invoicing including determination of energy volumes and pricing in accordance with the terms of each IPP’s EPA.
- Ensuring that contractual terms and conditions of IPP contracts, with respect to amounts invoiced to BC Hydro, are met
and identifying contract issues (with focus on invoice payment provisions, confirmation of invoiced amounts related to IPP
outages, administrative and process efficiencies, insurance requirements, etc.).
- Where contract issues are identified, notify senior staff as needed, and support or implement resulting decisions.
- Working effectively with internal and external contacts to proactively resolve issues related to EPA invoices and contract
administration. Developing and maintaining good working relationships with external parties including IPPs, and internal BC
Hydro departments.
- Assisting in developing standards, policies, practices, and procedures for contract administration and other invoice related
- Responsible for a small to medium portfolio of IPP contracts, focusing on matters related to invoice verification and
- Acting as the task manager for IPP Portfolio Management projects for items related to invoice verification.
- Documenting standards, policies, practices, and procedures for contract management and administration, including
- Post-secondary degree, diploma or technical certificate in a relevant field such as business administration, accounting, or
equivalent. Candidates with fewer academic qualifications but with demonstrated experience in contract administration,
relationship management with suppliers, and account settlements may be considered.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience which should include financial analysis and development of financial models
using MS Excel (e.g., complex spreadsheets that use advanced formulae and functions).
- Experience in contract administration (e.g., verification and validation).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in writing emails and briefing notes in a business setting.
- Experience in managing relationships with customers and key business partners, both internally and externally.
In addition, the following experience/skills/capabilities would be considered assets:
- Financial systems associated with invoice processing
- Financial variance analysis;
- Database applications; and,
- Work flow documentation.
