The Dominion Energy Electric Transmission Substations group is seeking a highly motivated Electrician Trainee to support operations of the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm. The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm is located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach, Virginia with a net generating capacity of approximately 2,600 MW. In addition to the CVOW project, this role will support normal, day-to-day operations for the Eastern Virginia region. This role will be temporarily located at Dominion’s Norfolk District office until construction is finalized for the CVOW-dedicated office in Virginia Beach, VA.
This position will take on the responsibilities of a full range of Substation construction and maintenance work on electrical distribution and transmission substations. This position works inside energized and de-energized substations. This position requires a Class A CDL license with HAZMAT endorsement within 6 months of hiring. Planned and unplanned overtime work will be required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following: Climbing steel structures and working off ladders and aerial lifts. Working with lift tools and material up to 75 pounds on the ground and aloft.
Due to weight limits on equipment, weight restriction not to exceed 265 pounds.
The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL with Dominion training within 6 months of employment.
This is a Local 50 union represented position with a starting pay rate of $24.61 per hour.
