BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS
Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers’ storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Responsible for the successful installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting and repair of electrical components associated with facility and equipment related to the transfer and storage of liquid/bulk products.
•Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
•Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
•Connect wires to circuit transformers, or other components.
•Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with code.
•Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as odometers, voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
•Comply with the work order process and follow progress to ensure completion.
•Assist in the tracking of maintenance costs and ensure objectives and costs are achieved and consistent with budgetary constraints.
•Problem solver and creative thinker in order to provide solutions to improving the equipment performance.
•Advise terminal management of progress toward objectives and develop strategies for necessary adjustments.
•Receive and maintain equipment documentation (blue prints, technical manuals, operational manuals).
•Accept supervision and work cooperatively with co-workers, customer representatives, regulators, KM staff and others.
•Other functions as trained and assigned.
•Be able to assist or lead in mechanical maintenance including replacing gearboxes that are related to operating equipment.
Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements include:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
•High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required
•5-7 years’ experience required
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Proficient in reading policies and procedures and written work orders.
•Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and written.
•Must work schedule as assigned and overtime with little to no notice during the week, weekends, holiday, etc. as needed for operational needs.
•Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Word and various operating systems, and other company software.).
•Understanding PLC logic preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC:
•Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers and must be willing to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment.
•Current Texas Journeyman Electrician license is required.
•Must pass and complete Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations.
•Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones such as background checks by the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
•Must be able to complete/pass DISA testing for entrance into facility.
•Must be able to pass respiratory fit testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•Understand and comply with customer and Kinder Morgan's rules and policies.
•Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), keep required work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.
•Ability to handle evolving conditions, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
•Ability to identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
•Must not have a fear of heights.
•Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, reach, etc. for extended periods of time.
•Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
•Ability to problem solve and find resolutions.
•Travel may be required as needed.
•Will be on rotating on-call for periods of up to 2 weeks for 24 hours / day, carry a cell phone, respond, and be available as needed in operations and emergency situations. Response may require physical presence at workplace at any hour and any day, including holidays and weekends.
•This position requires both indoor and outdoor work.
•Ability to perform job duties with little or no supervision.
•Ability to work safely with emphasis on following procedures and management practices.
