Overview: Performs instrumentation & electrical maintenance & repair activities on gas compression and/or process equipment as directed. Acts as a SME for equipment in assigned area. Mentors & teaches company maintenance standards. I&E Tech Lead is responsible for training, assigning, monitoring, checking & coordinating the work of the I & E team. Assists Managers with scheduling & executing maintenance and troubleshooting work of other I&E Techs. Considered a technical expert who can work independently with limited technical oversight.
Ability to:
•Read & interpret instrumentation & control documentation, develop piping & instrument diagrams (P&IDs), related ANSI/ISA drawings, & National Electric Code requirements
•Perform maintenance & troubleshooting of instruments & systems in assigned area independently
•Troubleshoot energized motor controls
•Work on VFD siemens/TECO-Westing house
•Perform thruhole & surface mount soldering for electronic assemblies
•Apply electronics math concepts
•Utilize technical writing concepts to use & prepare lab reports, proposals, communications, & project reports & related documentation
•Demonstrate measurement & control, automated systems, instrumentation & motion control, industrial maintenance, servomechanisms, components, circuits, control techniques, calibration, tuning & programming associated with industrial automated systems & PCS
•Demonstrate knowledge of industrial data communications & programmable logic controllers independently
•Demonstrate knowledge of AC, DC & digital circuits Fundamentals & concepts, electrical theory, calculations, circuit & component characteristics, circuit construction, test/measurements, schematics, & troubleshooting
•If required in local area: demonstrate fluid power systems knowledge, fluid power technology, lube systems and/or pneumatic systems independently
•Demonstrate leadership skills, to oversee activities of assigned team and to assist with the assessment of skills and performance, identification, prioritization, and resolution of issues
•Effectively interact using strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
•Demonstrate advanced diagnostic and repair skills on multiple types of equipment including compressor packages, gas process and power generation equipment used within the region
•Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) to standard, Major Maintenance (MM), Overhauls, and MOB/DEMOB as part of a team
•Read and adjust unit as per performance runs
•Read, write and speak English
•Model all EHS procedures
•Use computer skills, including vendor specific programs (Cat, Waukesha, Ariel, Murphy, etc.), Internet Explorer, and Outlook
•Lead by example by completing and submitting company required documentation in an accurate, thorough and timely fashion and following standard protocols
•Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge:
•Thorough knowledge of Test & Measurement Instrumentation concepts, competencies
•Understanding of the national electrical code, the structure and logic of the NEC, including the index, annexes, & Article 90
•Thorough knowledge of gas engines & compressors, electrical systems, panel boards, controls, skid wiring, etc., through advanced training or performance verification preferred
•Knowledge of new technologies
•Thorough knowledge of relevant EHS procedures & regulations
•Fully understands customer’s production equipment
•Understand all processes & systems of how compressors work (regardless of types, makes or models used in the region) preferred
Minimum Education and Certification:
•High school diploma or equivalent preferred
•Valid driver's license and a good driving record
•Gas or diesel engine and compressor school / training preferred
Minimum Experience:
•Typically at least 8 years experience
•Large and small horsepower (HP) experience preferred
•Demonstrated history of successful and safe service experience
Leadership:
•Frequently lead, monitor and check work of up to 3 technicians
•Trains team members to improve skill, productivity, safety, quality and processes
•Provide input for hire, fire, and job changes
•Provide input for performance review, discipline and issues
•Uphold EHS & HR policies
