Electrical Systems Specialist
Where will you work: - Onsite – Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan
About the role
We are currently seeking an Electrical Systems Specialist at our Belle Plaine, SK location. The successful candidate will be a part of the Electrical/Instrumentation/Controls (EIC) Department at Belle Plaine. The position has a strong focus on electrical equipment related to motor control and power distribution systems. Responsibilities are geared towards supporting maintenance troubleshooting, maintenance projects, and capital projects.
What will you do?* Ensuring safety is a top priority in both design and execution of projects. Executing work in compliance with Mosaic processes, procedures, standards, and Government Regulations, and assist in developing those processes, procedures, and standards that do not currently exist.
•Working closely with site personnel to facilitate the safe testing and completion of projects. Developing procedures for safely testing new technologies in an operational mining environment.
•Motor control maintenance – asset lifecycle planning, settings/parameter management, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
•Power distribution maintenance – asset lifecycle planning, predictive (IR, etc) & preventative maintenance, including interpretation of results, and coordination of contract services.
•PLC maintenance - asset lifecycle planning and troubleshooting.
•Generation system maintenance – troubleshooting, predictive & preventative maintenance and understanding of the excitation and turbine control systems.
•Configure, test, and troubleshoot variable frequency drives and motor protection relays.
•Designing, programming, and development of control schemes for PLC systems.
•Support commissioning of PLC, motor control, and power distribution assets.
•Support shutdown maintenance planning.
•Provide support to operations for timely troubleshooting and training on system functionality.
•Work with engineering and drafting to maintain and update drawings.
•Overall, the Electrical Systems Specialist is accountable for the safe configuration, maintenance, and expansion of the Belle Plaine motor control, rotating equipment and power distribution systems.
What you’ll need:* Diploma in Engineering Technology, focusing on Electrical systems.
•Fundamentals of high voltage and low voltage power distribution systems and equipment.
•Experience with electrical equipment preventative maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.
•Experience with motor circuit evaluation (MCE).
•Fundamentals of motors, motor control, and variable frequency drives (VFD).
•Knowledge of SEL and General Electric relay programming software.
•Knowledge of Rockwell software used for PLC and VFD programming.
•Knowledge of communication networks.
•Knowledge of electrical safety.
•Communicate and work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
•Leadership and interpersonal skills required to build relationships and drive results.
•Promote the company's best interests when dealing with contractors, consultants, and supplier representatives.
