Summary
This position will be focused on designing and producing engineering documents for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) projects for commercial and industrial applications. Tasks will range from initial site feasibility analysis, detailed equipment specifications, the construction permitting process, construction/commissioning oversight, and verifying conformance with all design documents.
Responsibilities
•Assist as needed on the design of solar PV and BESS projects focusing on the electrical engineering, equipment layouts/specifications, and SCADA aspects of the projects.
•Produce engineering plans and details utilizing AutoCAD design software.
•Engineering plans include equipment layouts, electrical diagrams, equipment elevations, grounding details, equipment labeling, and all necessary details to facilitate efficient construction.
•Coordinate with the interdisciplinary design team to create cohesive site designs that incorporate design elements from civil, electrical, structural, and mechanical engineers, landscape architects, construction staff, and other subcontractors involved with the projects.
•Maintain relevant knowledge of national codes and standards as applied to renewable energy system projects.
•Meet with Agency officials and project stakeholders to explain and/or collaborate on the design.
•Create, organize, and maintain documents associated with the project’s design basis throughout the project life cycle; consider key project risks.
•Perform other duties as required under the guidance of professional engineering staff and senior electrical engineers.
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from an
•3+ years of progressively responsible work experience in the solar PV engineering design space, renewable energy field, or comparable field.
•Engineer in Training (EIT) licensure or relevant solar electrical engineering experience.
•Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and the National Electrical Safety Code.
•Strong attention to detail and quality-centric work ethic.
•Strong oral and written communication skills.
•Self-motivated and committed to excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
•Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
•Construction experience.
