Job Summary
Our client is seeking an Electrical Construction Engineer to oversee electrical system installations, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead site coordination, contractor management, and quality assurance on industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have strong construction management expertise, deep knowledge of NEC, IEEE, OSHA, and NFPA standards, and experience supporting commissioning and stakeholder reporting.
Job Description
•Develop and implement construction execution plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures (WBS).
•Oversee Electrical systems installation activities.
•Ensure adherence to design specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
•Monitor and track construction progress, resolving delays and mitigating risks to meet project deadlines.
•Site Management & Coordination
•Lead daily site meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination meetings with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
•Ensure site activities comply with IEEE, OSHA, NFPA, ASME, API, and other relevant industry standards.
•Supervise and coordinate multiple contractors, subcontractors, and labor teams to optimize workflow efficiency.
•Ensure all construction materials, equipment, and resources are available and properly allocated.
•Safety & Quality Assurance
•Implement and enforce site safety programs, risk assessments, and incident prevention plans.
•Conduct safety audits, inspections, and root cause analysis for near-miss and accident investigations.
•Ensure quality control measures are followed in welding, piping, concrete works, and structural installations.
•Collaborate with QA/QC teams to ensure all work meets project and regulatory requirements.
•Contractor & Vendor Management
•Manage contractor performance, ensuring work is completed on time, within scope, and per contract specifications.
•Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to expedite the delivery of construction materials and equipment.
•Conduct contractor progress reviews, approve work completions, and handle disputes or claims.
•Track and manage construction budgets, cost forecasts, and expenditures.
•Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
•Review and approve contractor invoices, change orders, and material purchases.
•Site Support & Commissioning
•Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment and systems.
•Ensure proper handover documentation, as-built drawings, and punch list resolutions before project completion.
•Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams for a smooth transition from construction to operation.
•Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
•Provide regular progress updates, risk assessments, and status reports to senior management.
•Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to align construction activities with overall project goals.
•Ensure compliance with EPC contracts, regulatory permits, and local/state building codes.
Skills Required
•Strong expertise in construction management, site supervision, and contractor coordination.
•Technical knowledge of mechanical, piping, civil, structural, and electrical construction.
•Familiarity with industrial equipment, process piping, rotating/static equipment, and structural steel erection.
•Proficiency in construction scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent).
•Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and leadership skills.
•Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ASME, API, NFPA, and local building codes.
•Sound Knowledge of NEC, UL508A and IEEE standards pertaining to electrical equipment. substations, Transformers, 480V panels, MCC, VFDs, Distribution panels, Lighting and grounding design.
Education/Training/Certifications
•BE (Electrical Engineering)
•Trained and qualified in NFPA70E requirements.
