The Electrical Commissioning Technician is responsible for executing the Electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, in particular for MCC’s, motors, UPS, generation, and building systems in the execution phase.
Area of Focus:
•Inspect, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, electronic, and associated control systems and power circuits, power generating equipment and switchgear;
•Inspect, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain emergency electrical systems, such as emergency power generators, emergency switchboards and lighting;
•Participate in HAZOP, JHA, FLRA, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT);
•Understand the need for an adherence to the Permit to Work and Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and follow safe working practices and the electrical lock-out/tag-out process;
•Complete check sheets for all inspections and tests;
•Understand, interpret, and work from various forms of project drawings such as SLD’s, Wiring Diagrams, schematics, etc.;
•Run tests on motors, grounding checks, integrity checks on cable installations, insulations resistance testing and Ductor testing on switchboards;
•Work effectively in a team environment to ensure that the commissioning work integrates well into the overall project.
Qualifications:
•State Electrical License; (Must have)
•NCCER in Electrical; (considered an asset)
•Degree or technical training considered an asset;
•3-5 years’ of Electrical Commissioning experience.
