Prism is seeking a skilled Electrical and Instrumentation Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. The Electrical and Instrumentation Designer will be responsible for designing and developing electrical control panels used in industrial and commercial applications. This role involves translating project requirements into detailed panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and component selections, ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design, proficiency in CAD software, and experience with PLC and HMI programming
Responsibilities:
•Design and develop electrical control panels based on engineering specifications and project requirements.
•Create detailed panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings using CAD software.
•Select appropriate electrical components, including PLCs, HMIs, relays, switches, and sensors, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
•Program PLCs and HMIs to control and monitor industrial processes, incorporating ladder logic and graphical interfaces.
•Conduct quality checks and inspections to verify compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and customer specifications.
•Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure effective communication and timely project delivery.
•Provide technical support during panel assembly, installation, and commissioning phases.
•Document control panel designs, revisions, and updates accurately and comprehensively.
•Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in control panel design and automation.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
•Proven experience as a Control Panel Designer or similar role in industrial automation or electrical engineering.
•Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
•Strong knowledge of electrical components, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems.
•Experience in programming PLCs using ladder logic and HMIs using graphical interfaces.
•Familiarity with electrical codes (e.g., NEC, UL508A, NFPA), safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
•Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
•Prior experience in project management or leadership roles is a plus.
