Job Title: Electric Program Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Electric Program Coordinator develops, coordinates and presents workshops and training primarily within the electrical programs at Kanas Municipal Utilities for city-owned utilities. This position also assists Kansas Municipal Utility (KMU) members in meeting their environmental, health, and safety and compliance goals through training and workforce development. Training is delivered through interactive presentation and practical applications on technical, environmental, health and safety programs. In addition, this position performs regular safety audits/inspections and consultation for our members.
Position requires regular travel to assigned city organizations, with occasional overnight travel required.
KMU is headquartered in McPherson, Kansas, and is the statewide association of municipally owned and operated electric, gas, water, wastewater, storm water, and telecommunications utilities across the State of Kansas. As a not-for-profit association established by its member utilities in 1928, KMU is dedicated to serving the needs and interests of these community owned utilities.
Essential Functions:
The individual in this position performs the duties and responsibilities which may include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Provide administrative support, technical and other related training for electrical personnel, these include apprentices sponsored by KMU or their utility.
•Provide appropriate reports to support staff regarding apprentice needs, i.e. new books, assessments, enrolments, etc.
•Assess relevant training needs for the employees of municipal utilities.
•Research, designs, develops, implements, and coordinates the delivery of safety and other assigned training courses or programs. These may be site specific safety and technical training sessions according to community need and regulatory compliance requirements.
•Coordinate assigned workshops such as Overhead/Underground, Sub-Station and Power Plant as well as various other events at KMU or elsewhere.
•Perform safety audits/inspections of assigned member locations.
•Facilitate safety committees and/or council meetings for assigned members.
•Develop and maintain a monthly schedule to include delivery of assigned services.
•Maintain technical proficiency and knowledge of federal and state safety laws and regulations.
•Create and submit an employee training schedule as required.
•Performs related work as required or assigned.
•Develop and maintain a good working relationship with city employees, staff, management and the Kansas Department of Labor.
Required Abilities:
•Understands adult learning concepts for the development and delivery of training.
•Thorough knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including but not limited to OSHA and/or equivalent Electrical Safety requirements.
•Ability to deliver Electrical Lineworker, Sub-Station, safety and health training programs.
•Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications, including making presentations to groups.
•Ability to maintain reliability and sound professional judgment.
•Knowledge and use of MS Office products, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
•Ability to communicate with people within various organizational levels.
•Ability to analyze incident data and produce meaningful recommendations
•Perform with professional appearance and excellent customer service skills
