Role Summary/Purpose:
The Motor Winder Technician, performs a wide variety of tasks in shop involving High, Medium and Low voltage electric motors, generators and other powered equipment. Responsibilities include dismantling, rewinding, brazing, insulating, bracing, re-wedging, working with epoxies, retaining ring removal & refitting. Work is performed in accordance with approved instructions and direction of the shop manager.
Essential Functions:
•Inspects motor/generator equipment windings for damage and evidence of malfunctions.
•Refurbishes, tests and rewinds motors/generators and repairs other electromechanical equipment.
•Dismantles and/or strips damaged or unserviceable mechanical equipment.
•Operates mobile equipment, tools & machinery efficiently and accurately.
•Maintains clean work areas, machines and equipment.
•Ensures correct documentation is used and filled out as specified on inspection and test plans, work instructions and any quality documents.
•Ensures that all specified records are correctly taken, reviewed and approved.
•Ensures that work is carried out in a safe manner and that relevant Safety and Quality documentation is complete for the task in hand.
•Ensures all lifting equipment is correctly used, and prior to use confirms its current inspection status.
•Ensures all work under their control is properly protected against damage while in the workshop.
•Complete all online and classroom training sessions.
Qualifications/Requirements
•Willingness and flexibility to work on short notice including off hours.
•Minimum 3 years of experience with maintenance, repair of electric motor windings.
•Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel and general use.
•Solid communication, planning, technical and people skills
•Ability to demonstrate strict compliance to safety standards
•Able to work without supervision and able to execute tasks when engaged on solo basis
•Able to work in a team environment and cooperate with fellow workers.
•Ability to clearly communicate in writing and verbally in English is a must.
•Capable and qualified to perform field work.
