Electric Distribution Field Superintendent

MPU is seeking Electric Distribution Field Superintendent applicants with a strong background as a lineman and leadership skills.

The Electric Distribution Field Superintendent will plan, prioritize, direct and supervise field work performed by utility Line Technicians and contractors to construct, operate, and maintain electric power facilities and related equipment. The superintendent provides leadership to the line technician team, ensuring field work is completed safely, in compliance with regulations and utility polices, and downtime is minimized.

The superintendent understands and is able to perform all work functions on energized equipment up to 69 kilovolts. An employee in this class has a comprehensive knowledge of Manitowoc Public Utilities' electric distribution circuits, substations, AMI, SCADA and a complete understanding of materials and equipment used, methods of repair, maintenance and construction on high voltage power lines and distribution equipment.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

Prioritizes and coordinate work assignments for electric utility Line Technicians.

Develop construction options, cost estimates and construction feasibility for engineered work plans.

Supervises assigned contractors and assure contract compliance.

Meets regularly with assigned employees, provides feedback, coaches, and enables employee growth.

Clearly sets and holds employee performance and leadership behavior expectations.

Resolves customer inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.

Comprehensive knowledge of the means and methods used for electric utility distribution, operation, maintenance and construction.

Ability to interpret design documents and prepare construction estimates.

Communicate effectively and remains professional while performing job duties during an emergency.

Starting Pay Rate: $107,000 annually
