GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for providing professional Engineering service and technical support

to Maintenance and Operation departments for the re-design, modification, re-engineering and

retro-fitting of equipment to improve quality and productivity. This role assists Maintenance

Department with keeping the assigned area's equipment and systems running with minimum

downtime as well as maintaining and improving area production equipment OEE (Availability,

Quality, and Productivity). Also may include similar duties in any area of NAS, if deemed

necessary by management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Coordinates and sets priority for the Electrical Engineers and technicians in their area.

2. Analyzes and defines electrical equipment problems to improve quality, productivity,

repair damaged equipment, save money, and increase production line availability (Line

OEE).

3. Re-designs, re-engineers and /or retro-fits electrical equipment that needs upgrading, is

damaged, is poorly designed or is incorrectly used in order to improve OEE.

4. Investigates and analyzes equipment problems, refines and scopes projects, makes

engineering drawings or layouts, writes engineering reports, makes cost estimates,

obtains bids, writes work orders, makes recommendations to management, obtains

approval to purchase necessary equipment and materials, and works with Maintenance

and Operations Personnel to retro-fit and install new equipment.

5. Studies equipment requirements, maintenance manuals and maintenance procedures to

design and establish Preventative Maintenance Programs to increase equipment up-time.

Coordinates all Predictive and Preventative Maintenance activities and insures all

maintenance work is satisfactorily complete as assigned.

6. Communicates and coordinates with Maintenance Personnel to provide technical

expertise and support on the full range of maintenance projects and programs to reduce

maintenance costs, avoid costly downtime, and increase equipment utilization.

7. Defines, prepares and controls work order jobs. Prepares work instruction, orders and

secures spare parts for jobs to be completed by Maintenance personnel. Reviews all work

done for proper completion to ensure the orderly and efficient utilization of Maintenance

manpower and materials.

8. Provides for and ensures the timely, accurate and efficient administration and control of

the spare parts program. Assures that all spares which are essential for the orderly and

efficient operation of the plant are either inventoried on site or are readily available for

delivery through equipment vendors in order to avoid unnecessary downtime waiting for

spare parts.

9. Assists Operations and Maintenance with troubleshooting and repairs to pollution control

equipment in order to meet EPA rules and regulations.

10. Follows OSHA regulations as it applies to engineering design, constructions,

maintenance, and equipment installation to assure NAS compliance to safety and health

requirements.

11. Keeps abreast of new equipment and techniques by reading appropriate journals ,

associating with professional organizations, trade associations, colleagues, equipment

vendors, service companies, consultants, and government agencies, and attending

conferences, training courses, and continuing education courses as appropriate.

12. Coordinates and specifies training, both in house and external, for their direct reports.

Coordinates training with the Area Group Leader for shift personnel. Signs off on

training documents for any promotions.

13. Promotes safety initiatives and improvements within their area of responsibility.

14. Conducts themselves professionally with any internal or external interactions relating to

their job functions. Communicates in an efficient and professional fashion.

15. If required, participate in disciplinary actions for their direct reports

16. Assist Group Leader in evaluation of new candidates for permanent hire and/or

temporary help (college co-ops). Responsible for interviewing and selection of direct

reports (Engineers and Techs).

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of Technical Degree from Approved University/College. (BS/BA) OR Other

advanced experience or technical background.

Basic computer skills required

Supervisory skills required

One year experience needed in Industrial Environment

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Mobility in plant

While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand,

walk, etc.

The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Visual ability with or without correction

Communication abilities

HEALTH AND SAFETY:

1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations

2. Comply with company safety rules, policies, procedures, as well as job specific work

instructions and JSAs.

3. Report the absence of or defect in any personal protective equipment or clothing to the

Supervisor or Manager immediately

4. Use and wear the personal protective equipment, protective devices and clothing that is

required. The following is the minimum:

a. Metatarsal boots

b. Safety glasses

c. Hearing protection

d. Hard Hat

Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:

e. Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with

company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.

f. Fire Retardant clothing

g. Acid PPE

5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the

Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policies or procedures

6. Must follow all Lockout Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated equipment and

machinery

7. Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations

8. Maintain a clean and safe work area

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations

2. Clean, well ventilated and safe work areas.
