FLSA: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Schedule: 40 hours/week, Wednesday - Sunday. Some evenings and early mornings required.
Hourly Rate: $22.50hour
Position Summary:
The Education Event Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of all adult and family programs and workshops. This position is responsible for the planning and management of new and existing programs, developing curriculum, supporting marketing, and leading communication with all stakeholders, internal and external.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
•Coordinate adult and family programs and events - set annual calendar in alignment with goals and objectives and budget, production of curriculum in line with Learning Framework
•Manage all logistics of programs including room booking, supplies procurement, contractor scheduling, and emails to participants
•Coordinate and lead Adult and Family Programming Onsite Programs: photography classes, special classes and workshops, Science Talks, Rainforest Yoga, Beekeeping, Scout and Senior days, and after hours events
•Coordinate and lead birthday parties: schedule educators, develop new parties as needed, edit existing parties, and oversee successful birthday party programs
•Annually build goals and objectives with leadership and support in the creation of the annual budget
•Maintain up-to-date statistics and records to understand trends, make programming recommendations, and create monthly reports
•Maintain up-to-date understanding of program attendance to understand marketing needs and ensure program delivery
•Collaboratively develop and implement marketing strategies and materials to drive program attendance
•Create curriculum recommendations and new program materials that align with department goals
•Support, mentor, and train team members, interns, and volunteers via conducting regular check-ins and scheduling staff for programs
•Work with Registration Manager and Marketing and Communications team to support the active functioning of Butterfly Pavilion website, ATMS+ webstore and external online presence to ensure accurate, functional and effective registration experience and sales
•Effectively communicate with Curatorial, Horticulture, Volunteers, Guest Services and Operations
•Participate in local and regional initiatives and committees to further Butterfly Pavilion's mission
•Volunteer and intern recruitment associated with program delivery
Additional Duties:
•Attend required branch and facility meetings and trainings
•Collaborate with other Butterfly Pavilion departments to ensure organizational cohesion.
•Cross-train to provide program support in other areas of branch as necessary
•Support the education and interpretation component of organization-wide events alongside other departments
•Utilize and troubleshoot Butterfly Pavilion systems to manage programmatic and administrative operations

Position Qualifications and Experience:
•College degree in education, environmental sciences, biology or related fields or equitable experience
•Excellent customer service and communication skills
•Event planning experience preferred
•Computer proficiency-word processing, spreadsheets and databases, website management
•Solution-oriented, ability to troubleshoot
•Enthusiastic and patient
•Comfortable interacting with people of all ages
