The Drop Lead is responsible for overseeing and training OSP Drop Technicians and vendors involved in the placement of underground, aerial, and hybrid drops. This includes working with fiber optic cables, fiber optic connectors, taps, poles, and other infrastructure that supports Beacon’s fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services. This includes supervising both in-house employees and vendors.

Ensure teams and third-party contractors are adhering to Beacon’s standards
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards for all installation and maintenance activities
Work with personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures
Adhere to OSHA requirements, including city and county utility installation and maintenance regulations
Perform, train, and ensure adherence to routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the integrity of cables and equipment
Troubleshoot and repair any damage or faults to fiber optic drops
Respond to emergency repair calls, often requiring quick response times to restore services
Ensure teams have the inventory and materials needed for all drop work

The job operates in a professional office environment and in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This position may be exposed to external weather conditions including rain, sleet, snow, etc., as well as a varying degree of cold and hot temperatures.
This position requires the ability to participate in outside plant maintenance to include lifting materials, climbing ladders, accessing small spaces, splicing fiber, and other tasks in an outdoor environment in a variety of weather conditions.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, and typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
