The Driver/Floater position is an entry level position with the opportunity to jump on the path of obtaining your CDL. 10 year motor vehicle record is required upon receipt of application for consideration of position.
Driver/Floater will assist and/or team up with route drivers to collect waste or recycling materials as assigned by the operations team.
This role requires individuals to work long hours, in extreme weather conditions. Helpers consistently pick up and empty garbage, yard waste and recycling carts averaging 75lbs. and occasionally pushing or pulling up to 330lbs.
· Must arrive on time as early as 4:00am.
· Must be able to work independently or with other team members.
· Must be able to safely drive company vehicles and non-cdl trucks.
· Must be able to climb on and off rear of truck repetitively during a shift in excess of 600 times a day.
· Empty all waste and/or recycling receptacles manually or mechanically.
· Operate packing mechanism/levers to empty all staged carts. Carts may be in yard or need to be pulled to the truck for service.
· Follow safe operating practices in accordance to Kirby Sanitations safety rules, DOT, and OSHA.
· Participate and attend all safety, staff or training meetings as required.
· Immediately report service-related issues, safety concerns, property damage, injuries or accidents to your supervisor and operations team.
· Complete daily route sheets including reading and noting if the receptacle is out, or unserviceable, and ensuring all carts are serviced in accordance with the route sheets.
· Be available until all work is completed for the day.
Must be 22 years of age or older to drive
Must provide a 10 year motor vehicle record copy at the time of application. This can be obtained online or at your local DMV. (If you do not have ten years driving history still request the 10 year)
1. Able and prepared to work in all-weather environments (i.e. Cold, extreme heat, snow, ice, rain)
2. Truck conditions can include noise, vibration, fumes, odor and dust.
