The dredge pumper is the person operating the controls to produce the material for the operation. Knowledge of dredge operation is crucial to this position. The pumper will operate a cutter-suction type dredge, in the Arkansas River.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Hydraulic dredge operation, using anchors and spuds to move the dredge
- Plant operation aboard the dredge
- Maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment
- General dredge housekeeping
- Maintenance of all safety equipment
- Working efficiently and safely every day
Work will be performed on a dredge on the Arkansas River, being done primarily above or adjacent to water.
- Familiarity and comfort with work over and adjacent to water
- Experience operating a cutter-suction type hydraulic dredge
- Ability to work during severe conditions including inclement weather
- Ability to work 12 hours per day
- Ability to work Saturdays
- Ability and willingness to do manual labor including lifting items as heavy as 50 pounds
