SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The District Mechanic Operator Apprentice, under the guidance of a qualified Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), performs duties as trained from the trainee level to the qualified working level in plant, pipeline and storage operations and maintenance in accordance with standards, specifications and accepted industry practices.

Core Responsibilities
Plant Maintenance and Operating* Assist in maintaining, operating and repairing compressor drives, compressors and associated plant and storage infrastructure.
•Assist in maintaining station operating units and auxiliary equipment.
•Assist in identifying equipment and parts needed.
•Assist in obtaining clearance from operating staff and gas control for minor and major maintenance requirements.
•Assist in the inspection and assessing station operating units and auxiliary equipment.
•Assist in the inspecting and assessing instruments, controls and emergency equipment.
•Assist in carrying out operating orders and gas control centre requirements to maintain system gas flows and pressures.
•Assist in interpreting and calculating information from charts, computer applications and measurement instruments and prepare and process logs, forms and reports as required.
•Assist in conducting a variety of tests in accordance with the established contract specifications of natural gas and recovered by-products in order to meet and to initiate corrective measures, if required this may include dewpointing, sample gathering, etc.
•Assist in inspecting the work performed by contractors and others to ensure compliance with instructions, standards and specifications.
Pipeline Operating and Maintenance* Assist in performing transmission line operation duties with respect to line locating, foreign crossings, hot taps, hot tie ins, block valve operation, pipeline integrity projects, etc.
•Assist in coordinating and/or participating in pipeline integrity digs, cleaning runs, electronic tool runs and re-coating of pipeline to ensure integrity of the pipeline system.
•Assist in maintaining pipeline infrastructure such as signs, valves, buildings, rectifiers, etc.
•Assist in checking, reporting and participating in the settlement of property and damage claims.
Administration* Utilize programs and procedures that organize, coordinate and schedule work assignments and maintain operating records.

Qualifications* Grade 12 or equivalent.
•Entrance requirements with the Provincial Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Standards for the Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate.
•Pre-Qualifying Assessment.
•Physically fit (documented by a doctor’s certificate recognizing job requirements).
•Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Note: Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship program and receiving the Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate, the employee will remain in the bid location, be reclassified to the District Mechanic Operator II classification, and be paid at the “with journeyperson” rate of pay.
Additional Information* Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters is required on occasion.

•Depending on location, this job may be subject to significant travel to enhance training and exposure to different equipment and operations.
