· The beginning annual salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000, dependent on experience.


PURPOSE:

To ensure uninterrupted access to power and water for the utility district by using sound designs, practices, and judgments in the design, construction, and maintenance phases of the electric and water systems.


General Duties/Key responsibilities:

1. Performs electrical engineering analysis, design, and/or studies for one or more utility infrastructure systems and equipment, such as power distribution, substations, water systems, or communication systems.

2. Interprets project scope and requirements; develops alternatives; coordinates with other agencies or groups; makes economic and engineering evaluations, sketches computations and notes; recommends action; evaluates project sites; evaluates environmental impact, test data, procedure, and materials. May lead small projects or aspects of larger projects during implementation.

3. Manage and operate SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).

4. Monitor and report on SCADA activities and provide relevant management information.

5. Evaluate and design line extensions to new and existing customers.


6. Formulate construction methodologies.

7. Select and maintain equipment including, but not limited to the SCADA system, substation equipment, pump station equipment, and transformers.

8. Develop Electric Distribution Layouts and specify equipment for commercial and residential development.

9. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

10. Monitor current system in use to improve on future design.

11. Able and willing to respond to outages at any hour of the day and night, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions.

12. Complies with all of Vera Water & Powers safety rules and uses safe working policies, practices, and methods.


13. Performs other related duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This is a full-time position where the individual will work in person at Vera’s headquarters. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Qualifications


Education:


Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).


Experience:


· PE preferred


· Demonstrated ability with SCADA preferred.


· Design using AutoCAD.

· Includes occupationally significant combination of: vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on-the-job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.


· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

· Must possess a strong knowledge and practical application of electrical theory and transmission system operations. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable safety codes and regulations regarding transmission line and/or substation projects

· When hired, must live 30 minutes from Vera home office located at 601 N. Evergreen Road, Spokane Valley, WA.


Skills

· Must have developed language skills to the point of being able to: Read periodicals, journals, and manuals.

· Write conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.

· Read maps or drawings of the items to be made or repaired.


· Write speeches, manuals, etc.

· Conversant in theory, principles and methods of effective and persuasive voice and diction, phonetics, discussion and debate.

Physical Requirements

· The employee is frequently lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds and occasionally carrying articles of 25 lbs. such as small tools, equipment, computer components and paper.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to grip, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist torso; pull, push, or exert force; and perform repetitive hand or arm motion.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

· Subject to pre-employment physical, drug test and skills test.


Work Environment


· Outside: No effective protection from weather.


· Job considered 50% outside.

· Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

· Must work in varied outdoor environments, including all weather conditions, day or night, all noise levels, hazardous conditions, and on a full range of outdoor work surfaces. Must consistently use required protective clothing and/or all personal protective devices.
