Toth and Associates (TOTH) is hiring a Distribution Design Engineer to add to our growing team! This position is responsible for performing engineering design on distribution line projects. Candidate should be self-sufficient at performing all design aspects required to complete the design of a distribution line in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including all the policies and procedures, such as safety, environmental, quality assurance, and quality control. In addition, the engineer should posses a robust understanding of overhead line and pole design to model, identify, and solve system issues requiring remediation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Perform all functions relating to overhead design in the distribution and communication spaces
•Develop assembly methods and material lists
•Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications
•Produces complete PLS-CADD based designs
•Acquire, review, and submit federal, state, and local permits
•Adhere to client specific electrical distribution standards, procedures, and requirements
•Apply correct design standards, codes, and requirements
•Coordinate underground and overhead design for riser re-locates
•Identify and verify existing underground and overhead utilities
•Visit job sites, client offices, municipalities and other agencies as needed
Qualifications
•BSCE or BSEE from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required
•2+ years of experience in distribution line design
•Solid working knowledge of the PLS-CADD suite of design software tools and well versed in the design of wood and steel structures
•Proficiency in writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations
•Ability to prepare procurement packages for engineered steel poles and review applicable vendor calculations and drawings
•Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
