Under the direction of the Dispatch Manager, provides efficient, courteous, and reliable dispatching service, both routine and after-hours emergency calls.
Applicants wishing to apply should meet the following minimum requirements:
Must have high school education or its equivalent, plus broad specialized knowledge/experience required, 1-3 years’ experience in electric utility operations is preferred, or appropriate combination of training, education, and experience. (Closely related and progressive job experience may substitute for part or all the educational requirements). Must have a valid state driver’s license. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to establish priorities and work without close supervision. Must be able to receive and dispatch trouble calls, outages, service orders, meter sets and re-sets, cutoffs and other service calls as required. Must be able to dispatch service crews during a system outage, requests assistance with major outages or other unusual conditions. Must be able to maintain records and logs, set/reset meters on distribution system, resolve issues with outstanding/open service orders. Must be able to monitor and operate communication equipment as well as communicate with line and other personnel by providing concise, pertinent information.
Applicant must be willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends in emergency situations or as required; must be willing to participate in special training program as requested.
