The Dispatch & Operations Manager plays a critical role in leading the dispatch team and supporting the Senior Operations Manager to ensure timely, safe, and efficient delivery operations. This position is responsible for optimizing delivery routes using both company-owned assets and third-party carriers to meet customer requirements. Key responsibilities include maintaining 24/7 dispatch coverage, overseeing order optimization, coordinating driver load assignments, and monitoring driver productivity. The role also contributes to driver recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Lead and coach the dispatch team to ensure optimal coverage and maximize truck and driver efficiency.
- Monitor driver logs and schedule daily activities in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, drivers, operations managers, and senior leadership to resolve logistics and service-related issues.
- Participate in weekly operations meetings with Guttman’s oil & gas field services team and subcontractors to share best practices and coordinate field activities.
- Leverage Source One’s fleet management systems (TMW, DriveCam, Cargas, and PeopleNet) to monitor and improve driver performance in alignment with company standards.
- Support the Senior Operations Manager in staffing drivers and maintaining schedule coverage.
- Promote a culture of safety and uphold the company’s core values across all operations.
- Assist in documenting, investigating, and resolving incidents, accidents, spills, cross drops, and driver performance action forms (PAFs).
- Develop and implement processes for managing driver paperwork, including bill of lading (BOL) reconciliation and inventory tracking.
- Proven background in transportation, logistics, and business administration.
- 5–7 years of direct management experience overseeing CDL drivers, with a strong record of operational excellence.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in logistics technologies, equipment, and related applications.
- Strong leadership capabilities with effective organizational and team management skills.
- Ability to independently set priorities, define goals, and execute strategies with minimal supervision.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and auditing operational processes and procedures.
- Committed to maintaining high professional and ethical standards.
- Willing and able to travel to multiple Source One domicile terminals across Ohio and Pennsylvania.
- Demonstrated strengths in organization, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and delivering presentations.
- Flexible and collaborative team player who consistently maintains a professional and respectful attitude when interacting with colleagues, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
- Preferred qualifications include: Solid understanding of relevant regulatory requirements and governing bodies, including DOT and OSHA and industry experience in trucking operations involving petroleum, chemicals, or other hazardous materials.
