We are currently seeking to fill an existing vacancy on our team.
PRT is seeking a
Director, Supply Chainto be based at PRT Armstrong in Armstrong, BC. You will take full ownership of our end-to-end supply chain function, from strategic sourcing and procurement to inventory management and final logistics, while leading a small team. Reporting to the VP Operations, Canada, you will be the key strategic leader responsible for ensuring a highly efficient, cost-effective, and resilient supply chain across all
27 nursery locations & 14 Seed Orchardsin North America.
This is a critical leadership position that will drive significant financial and operational impact. You will immediately assess current processes, vendor relationships, and organizational structure to define and implement a
scalable supply chain strategythat is perfectly aligned with aggressive operational and national planting schedules. Your work will directly support our mission to cultivate a greener future—we're not just growing seedlings; we're part of a legacy that has planted over 6 billion trees.
What You Will Do: Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and Execute Strategy: Own the comprehensive North American supply chain strategy, ensuring seamless alignment with complex operational plans, financial targets, and national planting schedules.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the centralized Procurement and Logistics staff fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous innovation.
- Organizational Design: Immediately assess the current supply chain structure and recommend and implement the best organizational and process strategy to ensure scalable efficiency and future growth.
- Risk Management & Forecasting: Proactively forecast market trends, identify supply chain risks and opportunities, and develop robust contingency plans to ensure supply continuity and resilience.
- Procurement & Negotiation: Oversee all procurement activities. This includes personally negotiating and managing all high-level master contracts for key commodities (e.g., fertilizer, growing media, packaging, and freight) and driving significant, measurable cost-saving initiatives.
- Logistics & Inventory: Manage end-to-end logistics, warehousing, and distribution. Implement best practices for demand forecasting and inventory control, overseeing material inventory levels across all sites to reduce waste and optimize efficiency.
- Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong, strategic relationships with all critical suppliers and vendors to ensure cost-effective sourcing, quality assurance, and timely delivery.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with all cross-functional teams (Operations, Production, Finance, etc.) to ensure complete alignment of supply chain activities and support overall business goals.
- Financial & Performance Reporting: Monitor key supply chain KPIs and metrics. Produce high-level strategic reports for senior management on performance, cost-saving initiatives, and risk exposure.
- Process Excellence: Develop and implement strategic supply chain policies and lead initiatives for continuous process improvement, leveraging technology and data analytics to drive automation and enhance decision-making.
- Compliance & Sustainability: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, trade, and customs requirements. Champion and drive sustainability initiatives across the supply chain, including responsible sourcing.

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 + Bonus (compensation based on experience)
Qualifications What YOU bring to the table
You are a strategic, data-driven leader with a passion for supply chain excellence and a track record of implementing major cost-saving initiatives.
- Experience & Education: A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CSCP, CPSM, C.P.M.,MBA) is highly preferred.
- Leadership Track Record: 10 or more years of progressive, hands-on experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a strategic leadership or management role overseeing complex, multi-site operations.
- Expertise: Proven, extensive expertise in strategic sourcing, high-level contract negotiation, complex vendor management, logistics, inventory control, and supply chain planning.
- Technical Acumen: Strong knowledge of ERP/procurement platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle), supply chain planning systems, and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI). Advanced proficiency in Excel is a must.
- Financial Acumen: Strong analytical and financial acumen, with a demonstrated track record of managing large supply chain budgets and delivering measurable cost efficiencies.
- Experience in Six Sigma, Lean, or other continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
