Position Summary:
The Director of Quality is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and ensuring the highest levels of quality and compliance across the organization. This position provides strategic and operational leadership to the Quality department in a large-scale, NADCAP-accredited heat treat company. The Director of Quality will drive a culture of continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction while maintaining robust quality systems that meet and exceed industry standards. This role will orsee both FPM Heat Treating locations (Elk Grove Village and Cherry Valley.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and implement the company's quality management system (QMS), ensuring compliance with NADCAP, ISO, AS9100, CQI-9 and other customer-specific requirements.
- Oversee internal audits, supplier audits, and customer audits, ensuring that all findings are addressed and closed effectively.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing Quality team, providing coaching, development, and performance management.
- Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies, certification bodies, and customers on all quality-related matters.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure quality performance and drive operational excellence.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure quality standards are upheld throughout all processes.
- Lead the preparation for and execution of NADCAP audits and recertification processes.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company remains at the forefront of quality and compliance.
Education/ Skills/ Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in quality leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of NADCAP accreditation requirements and quality systems including ISO9001, CQI-9 and AS9100.
- Demonstrated expertise in continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record of managing successful audits and implementing corrective actions.
