The Director of Projects (DoP) is responsible for overseeing and managing the Projects team with a common goal of timely project completion, meeting or exceeding margin and ultimately a happy customer.
The role’s key objective is to provide accurate oversight and direction to the Projects team to ensure successful project delivery and on budget. This role will not only oversee the Regional Managers of Projects but also work alongside the sales and service teams to ensure successful project delivery.
The DoP is a professional with the ability to combine many skills such as financial acumen, risk analysis and management, leadership, strategic thinker and collaborator. The DoP will also assist in creating company culture while helping to Make Each Customer Experience Extraordinary. They are a strategic thinker and are driven to ensure the team supports the Sales, Service and Management Teams in the fullest capacity to optimize TPGS’s goals, strategies, and objectives. The DoP always presents ways to improve the Company’s performance and inspires people to exceed their own expectations
· Manage everyday project progress with the PM team, Gross Profit and timely delivery
· Inventory management such as scheduling of order placement and delivery
· Lead specific initiatives as assigned to deliver results in alignment with the Company’s goals and Strategic Plan
· Conduct project review and assign appropriate resources to fulfill the project requirements
· Perform financial, legal and operational Risk Analysis of each opportunity won
· Support successful opportunities as they navigate from sales to projects through to start-up and service
· Refine process and workflow for continuous improvement and efficiency
· Manage internal and external relationships associated with projects
· Work with suppliers to keep abreast of new products/offerings and to ensure all necessary information is available to quote said products/services are opportunities arise
· Lead and/or assist with certain vendor relations and selection
· Capturing lessons learned and leading the enablement of process and tool changes as a result
· 5+ years of experience in a related role
· PMP or P. Eng is considered an asset but not mandatory
· Exemplary organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
· Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
· Solid understanding of and ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
· Excellent organizational, time, project, and stress management skills
· A valid passport for travel purposes and ability to enter the US is required
· Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
· Lifting or moving up to 20lbs may be required
· Travel will be required between branches and within the territory on a consistent basis.
· Periodic travel away from Canada may be required
