Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior HR Compliance Leader to oversee all aspects of employment law compliance, with a strong focus on California labor regulations. This role is critical in ensuring that our HR policies, procedures, and practices align with federal, state, and local labor laws, minimizing risk and supporting ethical, compliant operations across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

•

Lead the development, implementation, and auditing of HR compliance programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with California and federal labor laws.

•

Serve as the internal subject matter expert on California employment law, including wage and hour, leave management, meal/rest break compliance, harassment prevention, pay transparency, and employee classification.

•

Partner with legal counsel and HR teams to address and resolve complex employee relations and regulatory issues.

•

Monitor and interpret changes to employment regulations and proactively update internal policies, handbooks, and training materials.

•

Conduct internal audits of HR practices and ensure documentation meets all regulatory and legal standards.

•

Deliver compliance training to HR professionals, managers, and employees on topics such as anti-harassment, DEI, wage and hour, and leaves of absence.

•

Manage response to state and federal agency audits, investigations, and legal inquiries (e.g., DOL, EDD, EEOC, DLSE).

•

Provide strategic guidance during internal investigations and support risk mitigation strategies related to HR compliance.

•

Support multi-state compliance initiatives while maintaining deep expertise in California-specific regulations.

Qualifications:

•

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s or JD a plus).

•

7+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years in a compliance-focused leadership role.

•

Deep knowledge of California labor and employment law required; multi-state experience preferred.

•

Proven experience conducting internal audits, managing risk, and developing compliant HR frameworks.

•

Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

•

Professional certification preferred (e.g., SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR, or California-specific credentials).
