Position Overview:
KRC is seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to spearhead growth initiatives, cultivate key industry relationships, and drive revenue expansion. This leadership role requires a proven track record in business development within the reconstruction industry (building envelope knowledge is key), with strong connections to Architectural/Engineering firms, design consultants, and infrastructure specialists. As Director of Business Development, you will be the main point of responsibility and accountability as it relates to the overall success of key stake holder relationships and to uphold Kennedy Richter’s values (Creativity/Communication/Quality), standards, and procedures from planning to completion.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
•Industry Expertise: Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development within the construction industry.
•Established Network: Strong professional connections with Architectural/Engineering firms, design consultants, and infrastructure organizations.
•Leadership & Strategy: Demonstrated ability to drive business growth, lead negotiations, and develop strategic partnerships.
•Communication & Influence: Exceptional interpersonal skills to foster relationships and represent the company with professionalism.
Role & Responsibilities:
• DRIVE NEW BUSINESS
•Creating development plans and forecasting sales targets and growth projections
•Identifying market opportunities through meetings, networking, and other channels
•Meeting existing and potential clients and building positive relationships
•Communicating with colleagues to develop sales and marketing strategies.
•Preparing financial projections and sales targets.
•Attending events such as exhibitions and conferences.
•Preparing sales presentations and participating in sales meetings
•Producing reports for management
•Training business developers and sales colleagues
•Working in a client’s business or in an office.
• PLANNING
•Coordinating with potential clients on the Project Turnover - understand when projects will be turned over to preconstruction/estimating. Following up on schedule of the preconstruction team and delivery to clients.
•Consider the best interest of KRC and client when making decisions.
•Foresee problems – think in advance, eliminate problems or complications before they occur.
• SCHEDULING / COMMUNICATION
•Schedule with attorneys and owners on deadlines for estimates and proposals
•Think Ahead: foresee long lead items and potential conflicts/hurdles ahead on the project, facilitate solutions to these issues with project team.
•Main KRC point of contact for the project (pre-con), must be aware of all aspects of the job.
•Coordinate with expert (engineers, architects, and consultants).
•Facilitate periodic team meetings – schedule of needs and delivery with preconstruction for construction projects.
• EXECUTION
•Maintain detailed pipeline of future work and timing of project delivery.
•Deliver conceptual budgets for clients.
•Determine the level of estimate/ budget needed for client.
•Determine whether project should be transferred to preconstruction vs business development.
