I. Position Description
The Director – North America Commercial Business Development plays a critical role in advancing Ecobat’s strategic growth by identifying, developing, and executing commercial opportunities across the North American market. This role is responsible for expanding Ecobat’s customer base, deepening relationships with existing clients, and launching new commercial initiatives aligned with the company’s vision for a sustainable circular economy.
The Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership, operations, supply chain, and finance to drive revenue growth and profitability through innovative business development strategies, particularly in the battery recycling, refined materials, and energy storage sectors.
•Lead business development efforts targeting new markets and customers across North America.
•Manage strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and commercial negotiations.
•Create and implement go-to-market strategies for new services and value-added solutions.
•Serve as the primary liaison between Ecobat and key commercial partners.
•Provide financial and strategic analyses to support major investment and growth decisions.
•Track market trends, customer needs, and regulatory developments to inform strategy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Identify and develop new commercial opportunities across battery recycling, energy storage, and metal recovery markets.
•Cultivate and maintain relationships with major clients, industrial partners, and key stakeholders.
•Structure, negotiate, and close strategic deals that support Ecobat’s revenue growth and sustainability goals.
•Collaborate with internal departments including Operations, Legal, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure successful deal execution and integration.
•Represent Ecobat at industry events, conferences, and with strategic accounts to build brand awareness and market presence.
•Develop and present detailed business cases, including financial models, risk assessments, and ROI analyses.
•Monitor competitor activity and market dynamics to anticipate shifts and position Ecobat effectively.
•Provide regular updates to executive leadership on pipeline progress and commercial strategy execution.
II. Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field (Required). MBA or advanced degree preferred.
•10+ years of experience in commercial business development, strategic partnerships, or sales leadership in industrial, recycling, or energy-related industries (Required).
•Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and close high-value commercial deals.
•Strong financial acumen and ability to develop complex business cases and contractual agreements.
•Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
•Familiarity with sustainability principles and the circular economy is a strong plus.
•Experience with CRM tools and data-driven decision-making.
III. Physical Requirements & Work Environment
•Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
•Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
•Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% across North America.
