Your Impact
As a senior engineering leader, you’ll shape the future of Generac’s industrial, and commercial product lines. You’ll define the strategic vision for product development, lead high-performing teams, and drive global innovation efforts across engineering, manufacturing, and customer-centric solutions. Your leadership will directly influence business growth, speed-to-market, and the company’s competitive edge in key markets. What You’ll Do•Develop and lead a global product development roadmap in collaboration with business groups—translating customer needs into actionable plans that unlock growth in residential, industrial, and commercial markets.
•Oversee and optimize the full product development life cycle, ensuring best practices in design, manufacturability, serviceability, and compliance with cost, quality, and timing targets.
•Create, manage, and execute product development schedules, engineering plans, test validation strategies, and cross-functional resource planning.
•Foster strong partnerships between engineering, sales, operations, finance, and supply chain to enable innovation and accelerate delivery.
•Lead and improve the engineering development process—driving consistency, global coordination, and design/application standards that ensure efficiency and repeatability.
•Address market-specific challenges, such as cost optimization, global shipping logistics, and customer bidding requirements.
•Guide the effective use of technology and resources in alignment with sales and marketing strategies to meet business goals.
•Build, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering team—setting clear expectations, offering regular feedback, and recognizing contributions.
•Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, urgency, and continuous improvement—challenging the status quo to achieve world-class engineering performance.
•Lead talent strategies across recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning—building a strong leadership pipeline and identifying training opportunities.
•Partner with executive and corporate planning teams to align engineering initiatives with long-term strategic goals and market expansion.
Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
•15+ years of progressive engineering experience.
•7+ years of engineering leadership experience managing teams and projects.
Preferred Qualifications
•Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field.
•MBA or equivalent experience in business strategy or operations.
•Experience managing engineering functions across residential, industrial, and commercial product environments.
•Proven success leading cross-functional global product launches throughout the entire lifecycle.
•Experience managing engineering teams across multiple locations and cultures, including collaboration with best-cost country partners.
•Demonstrated ability to grow and scale engineering teams through leadership development and succession planning.
Technical Expertise
•Strong background in engineering project oversight: schedule development, cost control, validation testing, and specification adherence.
•Deep understanding of the industrial/commercial product development process, including logistics, cost drivers, and bid preparation.
•Expertise in process optimization, including time compression techniques and repeatable design standards.
•Strategic thinker with experience in aligning technology and engineering investments with business growth goals.
•Skilled in leading teams through change management, continuous improvement, and quality improvement processes.
•Adept at fostering cross-functional collaboration to identify and implement innovative engineering concepts and technologies.
•Proven track record of managing multiple global projects while balancing priorities, resources, and outcomes.
•Advanced communication and executive presentation skills—able to influence, motivate, and align across all levels of the organization.
•Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and a strong understanding of the engineering-finance-sales intersection.
