The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $145,000 - $200,000.
Job Summary:
Drives the strategy, process and program development, operational excellence, and stakeholder engagement activities focused on advancing Avangrid’s Clean Energy policies on electrification and natural gas decarbonization. Coordinates the Company’s initiatives around electrification and decarbonization including comprehensive knowledge of Avangrid's greenhouse gas reduction activities.
Oversees and drives organizational performance to maximize program efficiency, scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring operational performance and attainment of corporate objectives. Responsible for managing local and regional resources across multiple Networks business areas.
Key Responsibilities:
•Leads and advances the Avangrid Networks Clean Energy Policy activities related to electrification and natural gas decarbonization including roadmap development, strategy, associated plans including legislative and regulatory policy development and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
•Develops and provides oversight for regulatory policy, strategy, and key messaging for regulatory proceedings associated with clean energy, electrification, and decarbonization emerging technologies in collaboration with appropriate areas of the business. Direct and support all associated regulatory deliverables, (e.g. expert witness testimony, discovery, compliance, etc.) with a focus on stakeholder collaboration, coordination, communication, decision making, problem solving, and issue resolution in alignment with the internal regulatory strategy and all relevant business requirements.
•Sets strategic direction and initiates action plans and assignments to accomplish program goals, working with various business units and functional leaders across the enterprise. Mentors and develops their team, managing work allocation, system training, performance evaluations, and leads the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic. Ensures adherence to all Company policies.
•Responsible for oversight, including regulatory approval process, on all electrification and decarbonization pilots and demonstration projects business case development, justification, and management of business requirements including Capital and Op Ex budgets. This includes securing all necessary approvals, ensuring proper financial treatment, and overseeing performance management, including reporting to senior management.
•Supports integrated system planning efforts that consider both electric and natural gas systems, addressing the complexities of cross-system energy planning and decarbonization.
•Drives successful implementation and achievement of program objectives, benefits realization, tracking, reporting, and operationalization hand-off, (e.g. operational integration, change management, business process definition/modification, etc.) where appropriate.
•Ensures the establishment of appropriate program governance, initiates actions to enhance performance, reviews work processes, systems, procedures and practices and directs changes to improve productivity, control costs, and manage risks.
•Provides briefings and status reports on a regular basis for Avangrid and Iberdrola executives, regulatory agencies, and other key stakeholders.
•Acts as a Champion for Clean Energy programs internally and externally ensuring stakeholder acceptance and understanding of benefits.
•Serves an assigned role in support of the emergency response system and responds to a system emergency as required.
Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Economics, or other related fields of study and a minimum of 10 years of experience in energy/utility sector or similar complex multi-state company. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
•An emphasis on critical thinking and strong analytic skills required, including ability to meaningfully synthesize information into insightful inputs to strategy.
•Experience leading enterprise multi-utility, cross-functional, and cross-cultural teams.
•Direct experience in business case development, benefits capture, and presenting and communicating with regulators and other key external stakeholders.
•Advanced communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
•Demonstrated experience with clean energy policy including, but not limited to electrification and natural gas decarbonization programs.
•Detail oriented, with advanced problem solving, analytical, decision-making, and financial analysis skills.
•Self-motivated, organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities and deliverables to successful completion.
•Proven track record of leading results-oriented teams in enterprise level high pressure and high-profile assignments with leadership ability within a matrix environment, including geographically dispersed teams.
•Ability to lead and develop team members, including promotion of trust and collaboration in various environments.
•Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s degree in a related field of study.
•Advanced project management and organizational skills including, but not limited to Change Management, PMP, and/or Lean Six Sigma Certification(s).
