Your new role
You will be responsible for leading the health and safety strategy during the construction phase of the Windfall mining project (currently in pre-construction). Your role will focus on ensuring that safety is fully integrated into all aspects of project execution.
Your key responsibilities
•Integrate health and safety considerations into project planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure proactive risk management throughout the project lifecycle;
•Develop, implement, and oversee safety programs in alignment with legal requirements and company policies;
•Conduct regular safety audits and site inspections; monitor compliance, identify hazards, and ensure corrective actions are taken when needed;
•Lead investigations of incidents and accidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence;
•Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations;
•Deliver training and education on safety procedures, best practices, and regulatory compliance for employees and contractors;
•Collaborate with internal leadership and external partners (EPCM and construction contractors) to build a shared, proactive safety culture;
•Develop and maintain the project's Emergency Response Plan and ensure readiness to respond effectively;
•Contribute to performance reviews by promoting and assessing safety-related behaviors and practices.
What you'll need to succeed
•10+ years of experience in project health and safety managements;
•Demonstrated experience in managing health and safety in large scale mining projects;
•Significant experience in risk identification and mitigation;
•Proficient in data analysis and reporting for performance assessment for work effort reporting;
•Leadership qualities to collaborate with multiple stakeholders;
•Advanced facilitation skills in both large and small groups;
•Problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
•Excellent written and verbal communication skill.
