Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing diesel engines and related systems in various types of vehicles and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of CAT equipment, CAT ET software and Premium Tech Tool systems, as well as excellent problem-solving skills to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Duties/ Responsibilities
•Strong mechanical aptitude
•In depth understanding of diesel engines, as well as mechanics and engineering in general
•Able to disassemble and reassemble engines and other components
•Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance
•Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, fuel and brake lines
•Familiar with parts and components of complex machinery
•Repair of faulty and worn parts and systems
•Able to integrate new technology into the engine structure
•Perform tests on vehicle fleets
•Prepare and update records on service work conducted on engines
•Weld and cut material (if required) using arc welding or flame cutting equipment
•Must provide personal tools up to 1 ½”
•Possess a valid state driver license
•Able to read, write and communicate (speak, hear, and understand English)
•Willing to submit to a pre-employment background check
•Able to follow safety policies and procedures and wear the PPE required for the job
•Other duties as assigned
Skills
•Proficiency in maintaining and repairing diesel engines and related systems.
•Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to align components accurately.
•Knowledge of electrical systems, including the ability to transmit signals and troubleshoot issues.
•Experience in equipment repair with a focus on safety standards.
•Familiarity with automotive diagnostics tools for effective troubleshooting.
•Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
•Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is preferred
•Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience working as a diesel mechanic
•Experience working with parts and components of complex machinery
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Must be able to work in areas having loud noise and fumes, and work on and around heavy and moving machinery
•Able to work in dusty and dirty environment
•Must be able to keep up with large and varying workloads
•Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
•Walking, standing, lifting, bending, twisting, carrying, stooping, climbing, crawling, laying, sliding, pulling, grabbing
•Able to perform work on uneven surfaces, climb on and off equipment and work from various heights to make repairs while on top of equipment
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY EXPERIENCE:
•Able to use hand tools and impact tools to include, drills, wrenches, power tools, jacks, hoist and lifting equipment
•Must have computer knowledge and be able to research the operation and repair of different equipment
•Experience working and repairing small equipment (pumps, air compressors, generators, etc.)
•Must have general knowledge of operating heavy equipment being repaired.
