Development Project Manager - Join Us on the Journey to Transform Our Nation’s Energy
Who We Are:
GreenKey Solar is a nimble, fast-growing renewable energy development firm. Our goal? To combat the climate crisis head-on by developing utility scale renewable energy projects in key growth markets. We are small but mighty, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced. We work collaboratively in a hybrid environment with offices in Portland and Bend, OR. For this position, we are looking for someone to work out of our Portland office. We are a team of doers, taking ownership of our work and proactively solving problems to achieve ambitious goals.
Who You Are:
You are not waiting for someone else to act—you take responsibility and initiative to get things done. You have a passion for renewable energy, are driven to tackle complex challenges, and see them through until they are done and done well. You thrive in an environment where creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity is paramount. You believe in learning continuously, growing with every experience, and driving solutions, not just identifying problems.
Your Mission:
As a Development Project Manager with GreenKey Solar, you will be a key player in our mission. You’ll work closely with other members of our development team, taking projects primarily in our Pennsylvania market through the development cycle from interconnection study to notice to proceed (NTP). Once we get interconnection studies back from the utility, you will become the lead Project Manager for each project. It will be your job to help establish Go to Market dates for our projects and then manage timelines for each development task to that date. Your ultimate goal will be to look at projects holistically and help facilitate collaboration between team members so that we are working through the development process quickly and efficiently. You’ll manage communication and relationships with key stakeholders that include landowners, electric utilities, regulators, governmental agencies, and subcontractors, among others. Internally, you will collaborate with a team of land use permitters, project developers and real estate professionals. You’ll help bring opportunities to life, driving the process with accountability, creativity, and ownership from start to finish. Your primary role will be to push projects forward, stay organized, and make sure that we are executing on the opportunities that we have in our pipeline.
What We Value:
•Accountability & Ownership: We own our work and see it through. We take responsibility, admit when we're wrong, and make it right.
•Creativity & Problem-Solving: We don't just point out problems; we solve them. We think outside the box and find the best solutions.
•Curiosity & Growth-Oriented: We never stop learning. We ask questions, challenge assumptions, and drive for both personal and team growth.
•Initiative/Self-Starter: We take action instead of waiting for others to act. We find solutions independently, identify opportunities, and keep pushing forward.
•Integrity/Transparency: We do the right thing, even when it's hard. We are dependable, honest, and committed to our principles.
Your Key Responsibilities:
•Ownership of Projects: Own projects from utility study to transaction close. You will be the in-house expert on the projects in your portfolio, and will be informed on everything from the site constraints, to title issues, to permitting timelines and interconnection. You will also own and maintain the Smartsheet tracker for your projects, making sure that it is always up to date and organized.
•Driving the Development Process: Not only will you be working with other team members to establish timelines, you will also be holding others accountable to those timelines. You will work closely with other members of the development team to make sure that timelines are adhered to or adjusted as needed.
•Managing Consultants: In addition to working with other team members to make sure all development tasks are completed, you will also own certain development tasks for your projects. You will work closely with 3rd party consultants to order necessary reports and surveys and obtain/manage timelines for deliverables.
•Relationship Management: Once you become the lead project manager for a project, you will be introduced to the landowner. You will coordinate with the landowner for any necessary site visits by subcontractors and will also help to manage landowner payments. You will build trust and rapport with the landowner throughout the project lifecycle through to closing documents.
•Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with utility partners, government bodies, community groups, and other stakeholders, ensuring that projects receive the necessary support to get approvals to reach NTP.
•Organization and Drive: Stay organized while managing a high volume of projects. Establish and maintain good relationships with the team and know who on the team is responsible for what. Ensure that development items and tasks are getting pushed forward to successful completion.
•Problem-Solving: Problems will inevitably arise! You have an inclination for finding solutions and strive to make things easier and more efficient for yourself and the team. You see the big picture and the reason behind the work, which drives you to successful project outcomes for the short and long term.
Qualifications:
We understand that no candidate will fit every requirement perfectly. If you believe you have the skills, drive, and growth mindset to thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply!
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
•PMP Certification is desirable but not required.
