Wesdome Gold Mines has had over 30 years of continuous gold mining operations in Canada. The Company is 100% Canadian focused with a pipeline of projects in various stages of development. The Company’s strategy is to build Canada’s next intermediate gold producer, producing 200,000+ ounces from two mines in Ontario and Quebec. The Eagle River Complex in Wawa, Ontario is currently producing gold the Eagle River Underground Mine. Wesdome is actively exploring its brownfields asset, the Kiena Complex in Val d’Or, Quebec. The Kiena Complex is a fully permitted former mine with a 930-metre shaft and 2,000 tonne-per-day mill. The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “WDO”.
Summary
Reporting to the Eagle River Underground Mine Foreman, the Underground Development Miner will be part of the underground development crew, responsible for safely and efficiently removing previously blasted material (muck out round), scaling (removing any unstable slabs of rock hanging from the roof and sidewalls to protect workers and equipment from damage), installing support or/and reinforcement using shotcrete, drill face rock, load explosives, and blast explosives.
Responsibilities/Job Duties Performed•Install all ground support and drill cable bolt hole, incline, decline, drift, and mass excavation.
•Install mine services, such as: vent, air and water.
•Work without supervision to lead and complete technical activities for the department and ensure accurate and timely completion of activities.
•Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants and all other applicable government standards and regulations.
•Must understand and follow all procedures pertaining to proper ventilation including use of the tag board.
•Responsible for all signage and barricades in heading warning of all potential dangers and hazards present.
•Strong problem-solving skills, ability to lead a team to safely achieve development targets.
•Be sure mine services are installed as per company policy and procedures, including pipe, vent, fans, cables, blast lines and any other services required in the mining cycle.
•Monitor equipment deficiencies and report them to first line supervisor as well provide documentation.
•Ensure all equipment is safe to operate.
•Have sound knowledge of ground support as well as proper installation of all ground support.
•Complete proper face prep as per company standard.
•Shoot line and grade daily to ensure working as per engineered/Geo prints. Able to perform all technical duties to ensure accurate measurements of work area
•Follow all procedures and regulations pertaining to drilling on a face
•Load and handle explosives as per company standard.
•Be responsible for all explosives including loading, blasting, and handling as well as all hookups and connections of blasting line.
Qualifications And Experience
•Ontario Secondary school graduation diploma
•Completion of Underground Common Core 770010 program
•Jackleg & Stoper experience required
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in underground mining
•Ability to read and understand designed ground support plans
•Train the Trainer considered an asset
•Valid (G) Driver’s License.
WORK SCHEDULE
•10 days on / 10 days off
•Location: Eagle River Complex – North of Wawa, Ontario
•Meals and accommodations are provided while on shift at Eagle River
