- Provide engineering and design management for projects that are pre-construction and under construction, for commercial and industrial projects.
- Analyze, create and deploy value engineering solutions which are understood and acceptable to the construction and operations and management teams. These solutions should focus on the reduction of costs for construction while concurrently creating a stronger, higher performing operating asset.
- Provide overall management and assume responsibility for the successful execution of design process, design details and engineering for the Company in collaboration with outside consultants hired by the company.
- Read and interpret geotechnical, environmental, and other associated consultant reports that are necessary to build projects.
- When applicable, perform site evaluations, preparing detailed notes and documentation of site conditions for design and engineering, communications to sales and customers, project files and internal reporting.
- Assemble detailed balance of systems material list.
- Review material submittals for projects.
- Manage the design process including reviewing the site audit information, submitting information to the engineers, managing engineering resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of plans, and reviewing plans for accuracy.
- Coordinate/oversee creation of Helioscopes (or other comparable Company software) and accompanying production output
- Ensure designs are constructable and value engineered to provide the optimal financial benefit to the Company while achieving the customers goals
- Develop relationships with design professionals and subcontractors to support the business activities.
- Manage all activities to deliver a project to the construction team effectively, efficiently and quickly.
- Review commercial design sets from external design resources, provide necessary comments, collaborate with commercial team
- General knowledge of CAD, use CAD and supplement engineering team when necessary
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge to ensure that all work is in accordance with NEC, Building Codes and applicable jurisdictional codes and standards and with the highest level of workmanship
- Read and interpret Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, Architectural, Civil and Landscape drawings.
- Utilize engineering related software or other related software to manage the design process.
- Provide input and direction to the engineering and design elements in new project construction documents and contracts.
- Work on concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
- Assist and supervise all aspects of Company's permitting process.
- Assist company with interconnection applications
- Perform detailed review and "back-check" of documents for compliance with Company standards.
- Interface with Public/Private Utility Companies for the design, permitting and approval of projects.
- Maintain project documentation throughout the course of projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate technical field
- 5+ years' experience as a Design Engineer or Manager in solar engineering industry. - 5+ years' experience creating engineered drawings with AutoCAD or similar design software- Proficient knowledge in solar technologies, with the ability to adapt and learn new technologies
- Fundamental working knowledge of NEC Codes. Strong working knowledge of construction drawings and electrical line drawings
- Excellent leadership qualities, along with communication, written and presentation skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Knowledge of Helioscope is a bonus
- Ability to determine work priorities and review work for quality and production standards.
- Must be highly motivated, adaptable, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work both with a team and independently.
- Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Must excel with multi-tasking, problem-solving, written, and communication skills.
