The primary duties of the Derrickhand is maintaining proper drilling fluid characteristics, the rate of fluid circulation, mud handling equipment, and the preventative maintenance program. Additionally, the Derrickhand is responsible for the work done above the rig floor.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
•Assist and train Motorhands, Floorhands and Leasehands as required
•Assist in drill line slip-and cut program
•Assist in moving the rig and camp, rigging up and rigging out
•Learn and be knowledgeable of and adhere to the Company's Safety Policies, as outlined in the HSE Manual
•Set an example to fellow crew members and employees to adhere to HSE policies, and safe work practices
•Participate in weekly safety meetings, rig inspections, and Hazard I.D. Program
•All other duties as instructed by Driller or Rig Manager
Required Certifications and Abilities
•Confined Space Entry, Monitor, Rescue
•Fall Protection for Rig Work
•Fall Rescue for Rig Work
•Strong mechanical aptitude
•The ability to work in a team setting
•The ability to work in a fast passed physically demanding environment
•Must be able to complete and successfully pass a Pre-Employment Physical
•Must be able to successfully complete a Pre-Employment Drug Screen
