Job Description
Reporting to the Armed Security Guard Supervisor, the Deputy Armed Security Guard Supervisor’s primary will assist in supervising the GLE Protective Force staff located at both GLE Wilmington, NC facilities. Other duties include but are not limited to orientation and training of guards, inspections of guards, conduct pre-shift briefings, review of all reports and investigations accomplished during shift, activity coordination, operational planning, and other administrative duties.
NOTE: This role is subject to the incumbent’s ability to hold an NRC Q-clearance and a North Carolina Personal Protective Services Board Armed Guard Certification.
Roles And Responsibilities
• Assist in supervising GLE Protective Force staff.
• Create and maintain work schedules and time sheets Protection Force staff.
• Evaluate the training and knowledge of the GLE Protective Force staff.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Activates alarms or notifies emergency services such as police or fire departments in the event of fire or detection of unauthorized personnel. `.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles.
• Grants access to authorized individuals and monitors all entry and exit points to ensure security.
• Monitors departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure that any removal of company property complies with client-approved requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Provide assistance to customers, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Initiates emergency notifications as required, in accordance with site-specific Post Orders.
• Make productivity and cost reduction recommendations to management.
• Make recommendations for physical security surveys and post orders.
• Must have flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, based on the operational needs of the team.
• Ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.
• Must be highly proficient and fully functional in all Microsoft Office applications and able to effectively utilize all available office management technology.
• Demonstrates professionalism, strong communication skills, and sound independent judgment. Proven ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and maintain strict confidentiality. Must be able to work overtime as required.
• Basic Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a US NRC/DOE Q-clearance or equivalent (DOD Top Secret).
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a NC Armed Private Protection Services Board (PPSB) certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice related studies (preferred).
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must possess two or more of the following:
• Minimum of 10 years of service in Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement or security (such as Military Police, Elite Military Forces, combat arms).
• Minimum of 10 years of work experience in armed security or law enforcement experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in managing security for high-risk sites such as corporate facilities, government buildings, or critical infrastructure.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with administrative task such as scheduling shifts, managing time off request
• Must demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and overtime as required to support operational demands.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.
• Must be proficient and fully functional in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel) and able to effectively utilize other available office management technology.
• Highly professional and articulate, with strong independent judgment and discretion. Proven ability to handle correspondence, conversations, and sensitive materials with the utmost confidentiality
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization, including with clients.
• Current state driver’s license, no major driving infractions, minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and ability to safely operate a vehicle.
• Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Environment:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands, is frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, hold a pistol in one hand and a flashlight in the other hand.
• Communicate verbally in person and via telephone/radio equipment in English, and must be able to read computer screens, correspondence and reports in English.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required walk, stand, reach with both hands and arms, and must be able to drive a vehicle. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May be required to climb stairs on an intermittent basis at client sites.
• The job is generally performed in an office setting; however, during site visits the employee may be subject to adverse conditions such as rain, cold or heat for short periods of time.
• The ambient noise level is usually quiet, consisting of normal conversations, business machines (copiers, printers, etc.) and telephones, but occasionally may be above normal for portions of the shift.
• The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
• Must be able to focus and multi-task in a busy environment, with the ability to successfully handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. Includes being able to effectively manage multiple employees with diverse personalities and engage them to perform at optimum levels.
