The Data Analyst is responsible for transforming complex data sets into actionable insights to maintain and enhance reliability and security of the bulk power system. This position works closely with various departments to identify trends, optimize processes, and support decision-making with clear, concise reports, charts, and graphs.
The ideal candidate will use their passion for data and analytics to provide insights to the business covering a range of topics.
Responsibilities
•Collect, clean, and analyze large data sets from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business decisions
•Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs to provide insights that support organizational objectives and goals
•Develop and create required reports, graphs, and visualizations (scheduled and on an ad-hoc basis) utilizing tools such as Excel, SAP Business Objects, Web Intelligence, and/or Power BI
•Support enhancing and optimizing processes through reporting of performance data and automation of workflows
•Develop and/or support applications and tools related to workflow tracking
•Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in data analysis and visualization and recommend tools, technologies, and methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness
•Track and report Key Performance Indicators supporting business operations and workflow processes
•Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (math, statistics, computer science, information systems, or related field) or equivalent application tools work experience required
•A minimum of five years’ progressive experience in data visualization and data analytics utilizing database tools such as SAP BusinessObjects, Web Intelligence, and Power BI required
•Advanced SharePoint and Excel experience and skills required
•Experience interpreting complex data, creating metrics, manipulating data, and providing support on forecasting based on key performance indicators for relevant departments required
•Good communication skills and ability to work closely with others and interpret business requirements to determine appropriate solutions required
•Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills required
•Strong organizational and technical writing skills required
•Experience with data programming in Python, R, or SQL preferred
•Previous experience in the electric utility industry or strong operational understanding of electric utilities preferred
This is an individual contributor role, no supervisory responsibilities.
Standard office environment, requires mobility and sedentary work
Travel Requirement: Less than 10%
Pay Range: $66,300 - $88,300* annual
*Based on MRO’s Pay Philosophy wage range - New/Developing Employee – Proficient Employee (75% - midpoint).
