A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)
The Siemens Energy U.S. Customs Team supports in all customs related matters, ensuring full compliance with applicable customs regulations and internal requirements in an optimal and efficient manner. U.S. Customs Regulatory & Advisory Manager provides regulatory guidance and risk mitigation on matters impacting Siemens Energy’s Customs related activities. This role will provide support to business areas and internal customers and ensure compliance pursuant to Customs Regulations and ICP for import, export, and supply chain security.
This position reports to the head of Customs North America and based in Orlando, FL, and may be considered in Charlotte, NC, or Houston, TX.
How You’ll Make An Impact (responsibilities)
- Manage and implement U.S. import and export compliance standards in line with Siemens Energy’s Internal Control Program, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and trade agreement activities.
- Stay current on federal regulatory changes, evaluating impacts on processes, and supporting rulings, amendments, and responses (e.g., binding rulings, CF28/CF29).
- Provide deep expertise in HTS classification, valuation, FTAs, country-of-origin, ADD/CVD, Section 232/301, CTPAT, Incoterms®, and related trade compliance topics.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop U.S. Customs Regulatory & Advisory team members while fostering strong partnerships with business areas across the organization.
- Drive continuous improvement by standardizing processes, developing best practices, and supporting the implementation of regulatory customs requirements for all U.S. businesses and affiliates.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
What You Bring (requirements)
- Minimum of 10+ years of people management and leadership experience in U.S. Customs work.
- Technical Expertise: Licensed Customs Broker preferred, with in-depth knowledge of CFR 15 and 19, complex customs valuation (including value reconciliation and assists), U.S. HTS classification, Section 232 and 301 tariffs, CTPAT, and Incoterms®.
- Analytical & Compliance Skills: Proven ability to manage global import programs, resolve audits or regulatory inquiries, and implement corrective actions across systems, processes, customers, suppliers, and service providers.
