Customer Service Representative

DUTIES OF POSITION

The individual who functions in this position must carry out all the functions associated with being a Customer Service Representative. This position encompasses responsibility for developing and maintaining positive customer relations. The individual in this position sells appropriate products, provides service, and seeks solutions to customer requirements. This position requires strong mechanical and engineering knowledge. To qualify as a Customer Service Representative an individual must be able to perform all the following:

- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints thoroughly.

- Evaluate and estimate job costs, in addition to being aware of pricing requirements of specific markets.

- Negotiate, within prescribed limits, to secure orders and obtain competitive information whenever possible.

- Issue quotations to prospects, customers, and the field sales.

- Solicit sales via telephone, personal contact, quote and follow up.

- Seek a solution to all customer complaints while maintaining good customer relations.

- Obtain and update a solid working knowledge of our manufacturing capacity and our products' applications.

- Periodically research job files to maintain cost and shop scheduling parameters.

- Follow up on customer inquiries and status of quotes.

- Work with all Hendrick employees to aid in customer response.

- Periodic travel.

- Attend applicable trade shows.

- Work overtime as required to satisfy customer’s request.

- Perform all other duties and assignments as required including those when reassigned or transferred and regardless of whether duties are related to his/her normal duties.

Education:

- Minimum of two years of college with a concentration of courses in Business and/or Engineering or equivalent work experience.

Skills:

- Requires mathematical computation skills.

- Requires strong mechanical skills.

- Requires strong computer skills including AutoCAD

- Requires interpersonal skills.

- Requires good command of English language and proper grammar.

- Strong selling techniques including ability to persuade and negotiate.

Knowledge:

- Possess the ability to interpret blueprints.

- Possess the ability to operate Windows based software.

- Welding design knowledge a plus.

- Fabricated metal background a plus

Experience:

- 1-2 Years in a sales environment with direct telephone customer contact

- Minimum of 1 year in an industrial environment.

Supervision:

- Position requires individual to work independently and/or with limited supervision.

- Individual exercises decision making within policy guidelines.

Physical Demands:

- Sitting for extended periods of time.

- Stooping, bending, stretching, and walking as necessary.

- Appropriate business attire.

Working Conditions:

- Work is performed in a well-lit, well ventilated clean office environment. Work may be performed in other environments to obtain corporate objectives.
