Reporting to the Supervisor in Customer Service, this position is responsible for providing service to the general public regarding billing inquiries, payments, routine credit arrangements, and other customer service-related matters. This position is responsible for preparing daily deposits, balancing and posting payments to accounts, and preparing a variety of service orders. The candidate will also be required to complete the billing process, review readings and consumption for accuracy, calculate and verify bills against historical records for any discrepancies, and print and post bills as required. The ability to effectively deal with customer complaints in a professional and courteous manner is essential for this position.
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented individual who will excel in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to multitask. The ideal candidate must have a desire to provide exceptional customer service and be able to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team. We are accepting applications from candidates who have previous customer service experience, preferably in a utility environment, and have proven problem-solving skills.
- Post-Secondary education in Social Sciences, Business Administration, or in a related discipline, and have five (5) years’ experience in a customer service-related position.
- Candidate will have the ability/aptitude to perform mathematical calculations and demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Capability to work under a pre-determined billing schedule and meet deadlines.
- Requires initiative to carry out the work assigned with a minimum supervision.
- Excellent communication skills in both English (spoken and written)/French (spoken), combined with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Must maintain a valid Ontario class “G” driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
- This role offers a progression in pay starting from $28.50- $35.62/hour. The starting rate for new hires will be based on their qualifications and the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
