Depending upon the qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a level I or II
Must have a valid Class A CDL to be considered for Level II
Performs a variety of activities associated with pipeline installation and maintenance including
- Operate backhoe, trencher, cranes, jackhammers
- Make taps
- Fuse plastic pipe
- Perform maintenance on equipment and/or ensure routine maintenance is performed
- “Squeeze-off” steel and plastic
- Set-up for job (ensure tools and equipment available)
- Install leak clamps
- Layout of line
- Cut, thread, and re-wrap pipes
- Perform site excavation Performs and assists in related activities
- Traffic control
- Locate pipelines
- Assist with purges
- Retire services
- Assist in relocating service lines
- Change stop-cocks Performs above functions utilizing a variety of tools and equipment
- Machinery (backhoe, trencher, cranes, jackhammers)
- Hand tools (brushes, grinders, etc.)
- Shovels
- Rakes
- Jack hammer
- “Squeeze” tool
- Heating iron Perform other duties as assigned and required
- Three (3) or more years of experience involving excavations operating backhoes and excavators
- Must demonstrate abilities for employment
- Advanced knowledge and use of construction tools and or construction equipment
- Mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of hand tools
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Safety awareness
- Field Mobility Classification - Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
- Must work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
- Flexible work schedule; lifting up to 100 lbs
- Frequent bending, stooping, standing, digging, climbing
- Works on uneven terrain, many times with heavy vegetation
- Manual dexterity (hand/eye coordination)
- Keen eyesight
- Good hearing
- Good sense of smell
- Comes in frequent contact with insects and animals
- Ability to use SCBA when responding to gas leaks
- This position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight-rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading.
- Weekend and evening work as required. Subject to extended working hours and must be available for call-out and emergency response. Some rotating shifts.
- Commercial driver’s license (CDL) required
- Prior related experience or completion of an accredited training program
