Start Your Career in the Water Industry
Are you ready to take the first step toward a rewarding career with great benefits and room to grow? The Custodian & Warehouse Clerk position is a hands-on role that lets you show off your strong work ethic while learning valuable skills in both facilities care and warehouse operations. This is your chance to get your foot in the door with a stable, well-respected water district.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for keeping our District headquarters clean, safe, and well-maintained, while also supporting day-to-day warehouse operations and inventory control. It’s a balance of custodial care, light maintenance, and behind-the-scenes logistics to keep everything running smoothly.
What You’ll Do : Your time will be split between two main areas:
Custodial & Facilities Care (Approx. 4–5 hours/day)
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and common areas — restocking supplies as needed.
- Sweep, mop, and polish floors; vacuum rugs and carpets; dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Wash windows, walls, and surfaces to keep buildings looking their best.
- Maintain outdoor areas by picking up trash, cleaning walkways, and organizing recycle bins.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks like changing lightbulbs, hanging pictures, or minor painting and drywall repairs.
- Coordinate with vendors for specialized services such as plumbing, HVAC repairs, and paper shredding.
- Safely mix and store cleaning solutions, following all safety procedures and labeling requirements.
- Keep janitorial, kitchen, and office supplies stocked across all District facilities.
Warehouse & Inventory Support (Approx. 4–5 hours/day)
- Receive incoming shipments, check for accuracy and quality, and enter information into our software system.
- Organize stock using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to keep inventory neat and accessible.
- Maintain safe, well-organized storage areas and handle hazardous materials properly.
- Deliver supplies to the right departments or notify staff when their items are ready for pickup.
- Track shipping and receiving activity, damaged goods, shortages, and usage reports.
- Support inventory counts and help maintain accurate records.
This Role Is a Great Fit If You:
- Want a reliable, entry-level position where you can grow in the water industry.
- Don’t mind rolling up your sleeves — yes, that means mopping floors and cleaning restrooms when needed.
- Have basic computer skills and are willing to learn warehouse systems and forklift operation.
- Prefer a job that keeps you active rather than sitting at a desk all day.
- Value stability, excellent benefits, and career advancement opportunities.
- Are available for an off-shift schedule, which may include early mornings or evenings.
- At least one year of janitorial or warehouse experience is typical, but a strong willingness to learn can also qualify you.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid California driver’s license and insurability under District policy.
- Ability to earn forklift and motorized pallet jack certification (previous certification is a plus).
- Water Distribution Operator D1 certification is desirable but not required.
