CUSTODIAN

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:

Performs a wide variety of custodial, building, and grounds maintenance duties to maintain and protect company facilities. Work is performed under general supervision.

TYPICAL TASKS:

Performs general cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing duties to include, but not limited to: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting of all areas, window cleaning, washing dishes, cleaning & disinfecting restrooms, breakrooms, and public surfaces, tidying furniture, and removing spider webs;

Collects and disposes of trash daily in the absence of the Facilities Maintenance Technician (FMT); Collects recyclable materials and ensures recycling receptacles are made available for designated waste vendor as scheduled;

Stocks supplies and general maintenance equipment and materials used in the custodial work;

Maintains supplies in kitchen areas, restrooms, and related maintenance storage rooms;

Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies;

Works altered hours to allow for disruptive cleaning duties to be performed after normal business hours;

Performs security checks of buildings and facilities;

Secures interior and exterior doors and gates as directed and at end of shift;

Performs errands out of building, such as pick-ups and deliveries;

Informs supervisor of any items in need of repair or replacement;

Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures;

Performs other duties as required to maintain the buildings, equipment, and grounds in clean, orderly, and working condition;

Performs related tasks as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

General knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment and materials; general knowledge of use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and appliances; skilled in the operation of a variety of hand tools; ability to work and make routine decisions independently; ability to work effectively in the absence of supervision; ability to understand and follow instructions in both oral and written form; ability to work conscientiously, be responsible, and demonstrate attention to detail; ability to work in an ethical manner and fully comply with Authority’s rules and regulations regarding handling of confidential information; ability establish and maintain cooperative working relationships among all departments; ability to perform heavy manual work; ability to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting items up to 100 lbs. occasionally with frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, climbing, crawling, standing or walking; ability to climb ladders and work at considerable heights when necessary; and ability to drive a vehicle daily.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED. A minimum of two (2) years of custodial experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid driver’s license according to state of residence.

THIS POSITION IS OPEN IN THE FACILITY MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT. PAY RANGE IS $15.07 TO $21.85 PER HOUR. DEADLINE OF RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS IS 5:00PM, THURSDAY, APRIL 24, 2025.
