Our Culinary Pathways Workforce Development Program helps youth aged 15-30 build the skills, confidence, and real-world experience needed to break into the food industry. Whether you dream of becoming a chef, launching your own food business, or simply want to learn professional culinary skills, we can help you!.
Food literacy and food security are significant components of this program. It is excellent for those who want to pursue careers in the food production or carry on to receive their Red Seal certification as a chef. Youth will receive;
- Nutrition and food literacy education from our Chef
- Food Handling Certificate, Smart Serve, First Aid/CPR, WHIMIS, Allergen Awareness, knife skills, culinary skills just to name a few
This program allows youth 8 weeks in the kitchen with our chef learning culinary skills and 10 weeks in a job placement all of which you will be paid.
- Assist in food preparation and cooking under the guidance of chefs, ensuring adherence to food safety standards.
- Handle food items with care, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Participate in meal planning and preparation, contributing to menu development.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and utensils, ensuring they are clean and functional.
- Comply with health regulations and obtain necessary certifications, such as Food Handler Certification.
