Crane Operator

We are looking for a Crane Operator to join our team in Axis, AL.

Schedule: Rotating 2-3-2 days and nights / Every other weekend

Pay: $21 - $24 per hour (based on experience)

Job Description:

TMS International is seeking experienced Yard Crane Operators for our Axis, AL location. Operators will handle scrap metal using cranes equipped with grapple or magnet attachments. This is a physically demanding role in a fast-paced steel mill environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate overhead cranes equipped with grapple or magnet attachments to move and sort scrap metal and other materials.

- Ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials within the mill.

- Maintain equipment and conduct routine inspections to ensure safe operation.

- Follow safety protocols and work with a team to ensure compliance with all safety standards.

- Assist in material loading/unloading processes as needed.

- Document crane operations and report any malfunctioning equipment to maintenance personnel.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a crane operator or in a similar role within an industrial setting (steel mill experience preferred).

- Valid crane operator certification (e.g., NCCCO or equivalent).

- Proven ability to operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently.

- Ability to work in a high-temperature, noisy, and physically demanding environment.

- Strong attention to detail and safety compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in steel mill operations.

- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
