Position Summary:

MPC’s Mandan Refinery located in Mandan, North Dakota is seeking a maintenance craft worker who specializes in analyzer maintenance. This position will specialize in analyzer work conducting routine monitoring and maintenance to provide the highest possible on-stream availability of all analyzer systems. Craft workers will achieve high standards through pro-active maintenance, adherence to established procedures and best practices, development to the ability to anticipate problems in advance and respond to problems quickly, and adaptation of a culture of continuing improvement.

This position will also perform general plant maintenance as needed and reports to the Instrument & Analyzer Supervisor on a four on – four off, 12-hour day shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities:* Receive instructions, work orders and safe work permits for the troubleshooting, repair, calibration, replacement or overhaul requirements of analyzers, probes, and sensors.
Complete modifications, changes and data collection of analyzers and sample systems.
Perform routine monitoring of sample handling systems and preventative maintenance associated with CEMS and Process analyzers.
Transport, replace and maintain calibration gases for analyzers.
Types of Analyzers include Gas Chromatographs, CEMS, Sulfur Analyzers.
Periodically perform calibration, maintenance, installation, repair, and replacement on all instrumentation and associated equipment including, but not limited to, pneumatic and electronic transmitters, control valves, solenoid valves, gauges, switches, and rotating equipment monitoring systems.
Report problems and possible solutions with analyzer systems to leadership and co-workers.
Attend and participate in morning toolbox talks and safety meetings.
General Craft work to include Blinding, Heat Exchanger Maintenance, Steam Tracing Repairs, etc.

Education and Experience:* Associates degree or certification in analyzer technology, instrumentation, industrial control/automation, or related technical discipline required.

Four years instrumentation experience in petrochemical or chemical plant setting required, analyzer preferred.
Valid driver’s license required.
Sample system training preferred.

Skills:* Must be proficient in the use of hand tools, computerized maintenance systems, analyzer specific software, communicators, and calibration equipment.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings including wiring diagrams, loop drawings, P&IDs, and PFDs.
Ability to demonstrate customer-focused, results-driven, and effective collaboration work within various levels of the organization.
Ability to work overtime, work after hour callouts, and occasional plant shutdowns/startups independently.
Ability to physically perform all duties required which may involve (among others): bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, work at heights or in confined spaces, lifting and carrying loads up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb and work at heights greater than 100 feet.
Ability to work efficiently and safely alone as well as part of a team.
Self-motivated with ability of following oral and written instruction.

Pay and Benefits: Employees with analyzer work experience who are qualified can start at $37.92 - $43.97. The maximum rate for the position is $52.11 with demonstrated qualification/proficiency after being hired. Annual increases are scheduled.* Annual Bonus Program
