This position will be based in Houston, Texas. The position will be responsible for providing antibribery compliance legal services to multiple clients across the globe. Success in this position will require legal experience and some expertise in global antibribery and anti-money laundering laws, as well as general transactional and litigation experience. Counsel may be called upon to provide guidance in other subject areas such as competition law and political law and should be open to such learning. Some experience with supporting and providing practical legal advice to compliance organizations preferably in the oil & gas sector is beneficial. The position requires good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to be team-oriented and client-focused. The candidate must demonstrate diplomacy and sensitivity to cultural diversity. The ability to provide business-focused, timely and cost-efficient advice in a challenging operating and legal environment is crucial. The candidate must develop a strong understanding of the business operations and work with the existing legal and compliance teams to provide timely guidance on Chevron’s compliance requirements and assist with appropriate risk mitigation.
- Education / Certifications: J.D. from an accredited US University, and current, valid admission to the Texas Bar.
- Minimum of 5 years experience with a law firm working with clients or as in-house counsel advising on antibribery and anti-money laundering laws. Experience in both litigation and transactional matters is considered an asset.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to be team-oriented and client-focused is required.
- The candidate must demonstrate diplomacy, and sensitivity to cultural diversity.
- The ability to provide business-focused, timely and cost-efficient advice in a challenging operating and legal environment is crucial.
- Experience with supporting and providing practical legal advice to compliance organizations preferably in the oil and gas or energy sector is beneficial.
- Willing to travel internationally when and if required.
