Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and analyzing cost data, preparing financial reports, and providing insights to help drive business decisions. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem solving, and communication skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
•Coordinate with project managers and other departments to review financial status of projects
•Liaise with Field Managers, Ops Support, and Supply Chain departments to help research and resolve cost-related issues on projects, purchase orders and work orders
•Project entries, to include cost movements and posting project WIP
•Track project cost, revenue and ensure accurate financial results
•Research purchase order coding on the GL to help identify necessary reclasses
•Journal entries (primarily cost reclasses, deferrals and accruals)
•Monthly project margin reporting
•Enter inventory average cost updates and run inventory revaluations
•Timely closing of monthly financials
•Reconcile balance sheet accounts
•Review accruals and other accounts as part of month-end close
•Review and analyze general ledger accounts for discrepancies and other issues
•Ensure regulatory compliance (e.g. GAAP / SOX / SEC)
•Assist with the coordination of various audit procedures in relation to the following: project accounting, inventory processes and costing
•Documentation of all accounting processes and periodic review of business processes to ensure maximum efficiency and best practice
•Train, supervise, and mentor staff accountants
•Participate in relevant company initiatives and goals (e.g., implementation of new ERP system)
Education, Experience, And Training
•4 year degree required, preferably in accounting or finance; CPA a plus
•4+ years’ accounting experience
•Experience working with various accounting software
•Advanced Microsoft Office skills required, specifically Excel
